I have found one but today i was told tha judges in shows take points off for horses with scars,

His scar is very noticable but from a spider bite.

  1. where abouts on him is his scar???

then i could give ideas to cover them up

  2. i have a stunning 4yo palomino stockhorse x arab, unfortunatly when he was still a foal he ran threw a fence and cut open his chest. His scar is about 40cm long and is very noticable being on the front of his chest.

He has amazing movement and beats warmbloods in dressage, as far as i know we have never been marked down in any of our tests for his scar.

if you think this horse will take you far, a scar should not stop you from buying him. a friendship is worth more then a ribbon.

    hope this helps .xx

  3. my mare has a few scars on her flanks - she had them when i got her, and we've never had points taken off from us? maybe it's different in certain parts of the world i dont know? but like people have said you can always cover it up with something

  4. well, if he is truly the one for you, you should buy him, no matter if he has scars or anything. you never really know when another one like him will come around.you could get something that will cover up the scar, but im not sure what will do that.

    good luck!!

  5. In showjumping it doesnt matter but it depends on which class you will be  doing.

  6. i have never ever heard of a judge taking off points for scars. thats terrible if that did happen! it doesnt make sense because scars are just a cosmedic blemish, it should not affect the way a horse is judged. MMM well I am sure there are tricks you can use to help hide his scars but I wouldnt worry about his scars being an issue in the show ring. **where I used to board my trainer was a QH breeder and also was a AMQH judge and when he bred one of his mares she had her previous foal with her and the stallion took a chunck out of the poor thing on the rump...he still sold it as a halter horse. so i REALLY doub scars make a difference

  7. Yes in equitation you can only enter pleasure flat work shows and you can not enter Hunter Jumper only show jumping no equitation or you do lose points
