Horse syntoms of....something??

okay well one of our horses is losing weight, but not to severly. hes about 23 years old and we found him eating horse manure today. we dont understand this, losing weight...and now eating horse manure!? we dont find him doing this often... or ever! the vet came out yesterday and said hes healthy though he is looking thin [this was before he was eating manure]. what can this be? btw he wasnt starving, he ate breakfast... and also had hay for lunch. then dinner...

  1. Those are symptoms of horses getting older. Maybe you should start switching him over to a senior feed. Eating manure is a sign of him not getting enough nutrients. Have his teeth checked out, that could be a reason he isn't getting enough nutrients from the feed.
