Horse trainer Bart Cummings upset over the sale of So You Think
The strong contender of the Melbourne Cup, So You Think, was denied victory after which it was decided that the racehorse will be sold to Irish interest. It has been reported that the colt has been sold for an amount of 60 million Australian dollars. The
trainer was taken aback when he learnt about this sale, since the horse’s Malaysian owner Tan Chin Nam did not consult Bart Cummings before striking the deal with the Irish party.
According to some reports, the trainer was shattered because he was not asked before losing the horse, who was very dear to him and who he considered his best ever. Moreover, Tan was a long time friend and he did not expect him to make a decision, while
keeping him in the dark, to send his favourite racehorse to international breeding giant Coolmore Stud Ireland, after the colt lost the Melbourne Cup to Americain.
So You Think was the most fancied horse of the 82-year-old Cummings. When it came to describing the racehorse, Cummings admitted that he had not witnessed or trained a more talented colt in his training career. He also added that he wanted the 4-year-old
So You Think to dominate the Australian horse racing industry as the racehorse was showing positive development with every passing day.
Sharing his views in an interview on Thursday, the disappointed trainer said, “These are the sort of horses you work long hours for, the champions who develop before your eyes.”
Cummings is considered to be one of the most senior and experienced trainers in Australia. All the horses who have practises under his training have turned out to be great champions and have stolen the show in some of the significant and exalted horse racing
events in the country. In fact, all the dominating racehorses that the Australian racing industry has witnessed, have been galloping under Cummings observations.
He also told the correspondents during the exclusive interview, “This is a sad day for me but is also a sad day for Australian racing.”
So You Think had an amazing potential to become the best racehorse in the history of Australian racing. He is also considered to be the youngest colt to win the country’s weight-for-age championship. The Malaysian owner is facing a huge deal of criticism
from the fans of the sport in Australia.
