  1. Yes, your friend is correct. When a horses ears are in a certain direction it delivers a certain emotion for each. For instance, if a horses ears are pinned back, that indicates that they are angry/annoyed/ or agitated. I can't find a site that explains anything with charts or pictures,  but I will explain to the best of my ability and if you have anymore questioons you can email me. Hope this helps :)

    Straight forward: Attentive/alert/focused/interested/intri...

    Straight pinned back: Angry/agitated/annoyed

Straight out to the sides (donkey-like): Relaxed/tired/bored

One straight forward the other moving around: Listening attentively

Faced backward, slightly but not pinned: Scared/startled/nervous

Faced forward, slighty back, not pinned:  Irritated yet alert

Hope this helps a bit for you :)

  2. I think, perhaps your friend meant the direction of the horses ears?

If a horses ears are directly forward with the head up and alert, it means the horse is focused on something ahead and is interested.

If a horses ears are flicking forward and backwards, it means he is listening to all sounds/movements infront and behind him.

If a horses ears are both back with the mouth slightly wrinkled with the eye wide and white, it means the horse is angry and could be ready to bite or lash out.

A horse's ears tell alot how he is feeling. Research on google and you should find lots of info about this.

  3. I am not sure if I understand your question.  The different shapes and sizes of a horse's ears may tell you its breed, but I doubt they are going to tell you that you are going to live long and have many children

  4. try a horse whispering book they will tell you exactly what a horse is thinking and it will have that in there too!

  5. I think you mean that the shape of a horse's ear may be able to tell you something about its personality.  Do I always agree with that sort of profiling?  No.  I know many exceptions to the supposed "rules."  (For example, chestnuts are crazy, horses with a certain number of whorls on their foreheads act a certain way versus another number and so on.)  Linda Tellington-Jones has a book out that explains the various conformation characteristics including eye type, head profile type, etc. including ears.  Google her and you should find the book, sorry I can't think of it off the top of my head.
