Horses gettin shots??!!

I am in 4-H and recently (Sunday) my horse got the 4-way shot. Ther is a parent that said that it takes 3-4 months to get immune to the shot and the things. does it really happen??

  1. The immunity against influenza is usually short lived -3-4 months-so it might be good to booster the horse just for influenza after a 4 way. A 4 way is given once yearly.

    That's probably why she said it...because of the recommended booster AFTER the initial vaccination


  2. Well through my knowledge i wouldnt give the West Nile shot because it has almost killed 2 of our horses and and made 4 of my mare loose thier babies.I give every thing but that shot.I would definatly give the strangles thoghe becaus ethat is very contages.Hope this helps a little bit .
