  1. You can tell if your pony is too little for you by sitting on him... If you legs hang down PAST his belly, then you are too big for him...

    Good LUCK!

  2. If you are all legs, it is possible your trunk will continue to grow, which you should take into consideration.

  3. i think the larger horse will be better. im 5'8 and i dont look to big on a 16.3hh horse. i also ride a 17.2hh horse and i dont look to big and i weigh more than you. so defiantly get the 16.1hh horse.

  4. Why rush into buying a horse that may be too small or too big?  I would suggest waiting until a nice 15/15.2hh horse comes up - this would be a better height for you as the horse will last you but you will also not look to big on it or find it too hard to tack up etc.  I hope you find your ideal horse or pony!

  5. I think you should get the 16.1hh because, you will still grow.

Yeah, i thought i was done growing at 13 too, you seriously will grow more. Usually you have one more growth spurt. Also, im 5'6" and I don't think I look to small on 16.1hh horse, but slightly big on a 14.1hh it's really up to you in the end, but i think the bigger horse is the best choice.

  6. no, the horse isn't too big for you....

but you are still growing, no matter what you think. you'll probably grow at least another half an inch in the next few years. if you like that horse better, then go for it. But i'm about 5'7'' and i rode a horse that was about 15.2 and i didn't fit him AT ALL. i'd recommend the horse that is 16.1 because he definitely won't be too big or too small for you.

then again, i've got really long legs, but if you're mostly torso, then maybe a shorter horse would be better.

but let me give you some real quick advice, if your legs (without stirrups on) extends past the belly of the horse, then you're too big.

    haha.

  7. i would go on whatever you think is best!

  8. I almost died when you said that you were looking at a welsh/arab cross pony!! I had one as my first horse for many years and just lost him last year due to colic. But anyway you have to take into account the total package of you on the horse. You said you were quite slender with lots of leg so i would be tempted to say go with the lighter built bigger horse as ponies are usually a bit heavier built but these are purely physical speculations. It takes a lot of work finding the right horse and you just have to feel a connection with that special horse even if you two aren't dead perfect.. Its always better to look at more horses and then narrow down the selection to your favorites! good luck

  9. i would go with the 16.1

cuz you r still growing. but if you have a trainer ask for their opinion it always helps to hear what they have to say.
