  1. Horses are subject to tooth rot and dental problems just like any other creature.  Cavities in the sense that humans get them are not exceptionally common in horses, but tooth issues can happen.

  2. Of course, especially if you feed them candy.

  3. hmmm I would say it might be possible for them to get something LIKE cavities.

  4. yes, my horse stopped eating due to several sore teeth, and when the dentist came to pull them, he noticed all the of bad teeth were rotting.

  5. YES! When I was kid I gave my two year old mare sugar cubes. I did this for years and continually got screamed at by the 40 year plus trainer who was then wearing hip huggers and halter tops (m00nltstna). I had this mare until she died at the age of 28.

Well I guess I'm old enough now to hear the I told you so. She started getting a black dot on her right front tooth at about 8 years old. By the time she was 16 it was about half the tooth. by the time she wa 22 I had to have the tooth pulled.

I now yell at my daughter for the same thing. It has comeback on me ten fold.

  6. Ha, nahh. But they can get what they call 'Hooks'. Which is when the tooth over grows into a hook shaped form. You need to call you Vetranarian. You may not beable to see the hook, so you should get your horses teeth floated 1-2 times a year!

  7. yes

  8. I never heard of horse's getting cavities but they can get an infected tooth that has to be removed or they can break a tooth.  They can also get "points" like little spurs on their teeth that can interfere with eating and make their mouth sore.  Horses' teeth grow their whole lifetime which is why an old horse has longer teeth than a young one.

  9. i think

  10. I dont know but you can keep them rom getting caveties by feeding them not to much sugar or sweets.  Go to the denist when u are supposed to.  But i dont know if they can or not ask the denist.!

    Hope that this helped!
