  1. I would first sit back and look at why you want another horse.  Then look at if you NEED another horse.  Are you able to ride or exercise your other two at least 4 times a week for 30-60 minutes each time?  How are you money wise?  Do you have an extra couple thousand dollars to spend on another horse a year?  Evaluate everything before getting another horse.  It is hard to sell horses and they deserve to have a good life where they are useful to others and not just sitting out in a pasture.  You need to be fair to the ones you own and the amount of energy you put into them and whether you have extra energy to put into another horse without taking away from them.

  2. Well what do you want? A slower horse? Would be A QH and if your like me and want speed go for a good TB. Or and arabian. But do you really need one? Do you know you can aford it? If you can I'm sure you can exersize him! I have my own mare and work for the barn down the road. Riding 3 of their horses. What ever you want to do it for. Jumping is tottly Tb I say Get a TB.

  3. What do you want to do.  I like riding trails so I want gaited horses.

With our fox trotters we generally leave the quarter horses in the dust (literally we often end up waiting at the half way points for 30 or 40 minutes and sometimes for nearly an hour as the quarter horse riders catch up.

To illustrate this we were on a ride with a person who used to quarter horses.  When we came to a trail we were going to ride out to the highway and back but it was becoming cloudy.  The quarter horse rider was concerned because it was  1 1/2 to 2 miles there and that much back.  His concern was it would take too long.  Then he stopped and said, "Never mind I am still on quarter horse time!"

And gaited horses do this while giving the rider a very smooth ride like your gliding.

On the other hand, if you ride with people on quarter horses then your fox trotter will tend to outpace the quarter horse (even their walk tends to be faster).  The result is it is hard to talk to your friends.

So what do you want to do with your horse and who do you want to ride with.

  4. REALLY DEPEND ON HIS OR HER JOB AND THE PRICE YOUR WILLING TO PAY.

HE HAS A HALF N HALF NATURE AND ALWAYS DOES WHAT YOU TELL HIM, HE HAS SUCH GREAT MOVEMENT TO.

  5. It depends on whether or not you can take on another horse, what you want to do with it and your own personal tastes. This is a really open ended question

  6. It depends on what you would use it for.  Pleasure?  Or would you give it a job?
