The Schalke sporting director has expressed his satisfaction on the positive end to the season after his side won against Werder Bremen in the last game.
Die Knappen downed Werder Bremen in their last game of the season on Saturday, May 5, at the Weserstadion to end the season on a high. The Royal Blues won the game with a 3-2 scoreline as http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Klaas-Jan-Huntelaar-c21175 scored twice to end
as the highest goalscorer in the Bundesliga this season.
Heldt is happy that the team ended that season positively with a win and admitted that he is satisfied by the way the team has performed in this campaign given the disappointments in the previous one.
The sporting director added that it is always a difficult task to play at Bremen as they are very strong when playing at the Weserstadion. He insisted that the team showed their potential and is confident that the http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Royal-95-c40387 Blues will
be able to carry on with their sensational form next season.
“It was nice just being able to watch a Bundesliga match without the usual pressures. The team played really well to take all three points, as well as scoring some great goals. We put together some tidy passing moves and played
a decent game with the pressure no longer on us,” he was quoted as saying in an interview.
On the other hand, the chief hailed Huntelaar on winning the Golden Boot this season. The striker finished ahead of Bayern Munich attacker Mario Gomez with 29 goals in the current campaign. He showered praise on the likes of Jermaine
Jones and Lars Unnerstall and is delighted with the progress of the young players.
“Obviously I'm delighted for Klaas-Jan for finishing the season as the league's top-scorer. He deserves it. Lars Unnerstall also had a great game. All in all it was a positive way to round off an intense but successful season,”
he concluded.
Schalke have finished third in the Bundesliga this season behind the likes of Borussia Dortmund and Bayern Munich. The side has qualified for the UEFA Champions League after reaching the semi-final last season.
