The Schalke general manager Horst Heldt is hopeful his club’s talismanic striker will commit his future to the club.

eight goals in twenty appearances for the Los Blancos.
He moved to AC Milan from Madrid for about 15 million Euros, where he failed to replicate his Ajax form and was sold to Schalke after making 25 appearances. In his first year with the Bundesliga side the Dutchman showed what he
was capable of as he racked up 13 goals in 35 appearances.
Huntelaar’s now an integral part of Huub Stevens’ side, and was Bundesliga’s top scorer last season with 29 goals. Now the 28-year old’s current contract expires at the end of next season and his current club is desperate to tie

The former AC Milan man was with Netherlands’ squad at the European Championship. Horst revealed Schalke held discussions with the player prior to the Euros and both he and his agent are well aware of the club’s intention of giving
him an improved contract. The General Manager is hopeful that the club will not have to sell him before the end of the transfer window.
"He knows we want to extend his contract and I can very well imagine that happening. We already spoke a lot with him about it ahead of the European Championship. The talks with him and his management were very clear, so I see no
need to push things now,” he is quoted as saying in an interview.

a disappointment.
