Horst Heldt reveals that Edu and http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Anthony-Annan-c6201 could leave Schalke this summer- Bundesliga news
Schalke Sporting Director Horst Heldt has admitted that striker Edu and midfielder Anthony Annan could leave the club in this summer’s transfer window. He stated that a J-League club is interested in signing Edu whereas Annan could
be off as he failed to impress in his six months at Veltins-Arena.
Schalke had a dismal domestic season last term as they finished 14th on the standings table and failed to qualify for the UEFA Champions League in the next term. The club had an amazing run in Europe as they reached
the semi-final of Champions League, eventually losing to Manchester United.
Heldt revealed that a Japanese side has shown interest in signing Brazilian striker http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Edu-c12016 this summer. He admitted that the player could be on his way out but the club will first sign a replacement before letting him leave. He also
insisted that the club could negotiate terms with the forward and he may stay but the chances are less likely.
“The player [Edu] has a proposal from http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Japan-c2928 and he may feel that it is an interesting proposition for him. However, we would need to sign a replacement first before any developments occur, so there is a chance Edu may stay as he
has qualities, which he can continue to exhibit with us. We will respect his contract,” he was quoted as saying in an interview.
The Sporting Director added that it would be in the best interest of Anthony Annan and the club that he looks for a club in this transfer window as his performances have been under par. He claimed that the http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Ghana-c2905 international has
not settled at the club after his move from Rosenborg in January this year.
“For Annan, it would be wise to wonder a change of club would be best. He has done nothing wrong, but he hasn't been able to establish himself fully. You can tell that he's still not shown his best form,” he concluded.
FC Schalke will kick start their Bundesliga campaign against http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/VfB-Stuttgart-c40879 on Saturday, August 6.
