Horst Heldt says FC Schalke can do well against SC Freiburg - Football News  Royal Blues’ general manager is hoping his side will finish in the top four in the Bundesliga, as the race to get the last Champions League spot is up for grabs FC Schalke 04 general manager Horst Heldt has stressed that his team can cope with the pressure as they play a crucial match with SC Freiburg in the domestic league on Sunday. The game will decide who will qualify for the UEFA Champions League next season. The Miners lead their fierce rivals by just one point and need at least a draw to confirm their Champions League play-off place next term. The Bundesliga side’s manager is optimistic ahead of the decider, saying that they should focus on their performance instead of Freiburg as competitors for the Champions League spot. He feels that the side will get three points from their trip to Freiburg. He further added that if someone told him a long time back that the Champions League fate will be decided by a game between them and Freiburg, then he would have agreed to that instantly. "I’m in a very optimistic mood for the trip to Freiburg and I’m confident we can come out on top in the game," the FC Schalke 04 manager added. "If anybody had said to me weeks and months ago that it would be all down to us to finish fourth on the last day of the season then I would have signed up for that straight away,” the club official mused. He stated that it is better not to depend on results of other teams. On the other hand, he said that they could have sealed the final spot against VfB Stuttgart. "We don’t have to rely on the results from other games. Of course, we could have wrapped it up against Stuttgart,” he was quoted as saying in an interview. Moreover, he suggested that they are at a position that most clubs are not. He revealed that a number of teams in the league would like to be in the same place as them.
