The Bundesliga club’s official insisted that he admires fierce rivals’ Freiburg as they have been in great run of form this term
Horst Heldt claimed that he respects SC Freiburg a lot as they are fighting for the final spot for UEFA Champions League qualification with http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/FC-Schalke-04-c39204. Freiburg have done great this time around but the general manager is not concerned as he feels the
pressure is more on their rivals.
If Freiburg beat the http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Royal-95-c40387 Blues then they will qualify for Europe’s premier cup competition. On the other hand, he said that it would have been nice to play at their home ground. However, this campaign has seen them do well away from home as their home
form has been inconsistent.
“I’ve got a lot of respect for our opponents. Freiburg have been great this season. But I’m not worried as the pressure’s on Freiburg as much as it is on us. They are also in with the chance of qualifying for the Champions League,” he added.
“Obviously, we would have preferred to play at home. But this season we’ve proved often enough that we can handle the pressure away from home,” he mused.
The club official admitted that he is disappointed on the side’s poor form this season. As a result of this, their movement in the summer transfer window will rely on whether they secure Champions League place or not. This is because if they qualify they
will certainly need reinforcements for next term.
He suggested that he can confirm this after the trip to Freiburg. He said that the club members will sit and discuss where they lacked and what went wrong during the current campaign.
“I’ll only be able to give a final verdict after matchday 34 – and that’s just around the corner,” the manager was quoted as saying in an interview.
Heldt stressed that he would have loved if the Miners were consistent in their matches this season. Nevertheless, they have thrown away matches from good positions a number of times. Therefore, they need to rebuild the side for the upcoming campaign.
