Hrubesch the Germany youth coach revealed he is monitoring the progress of his ex pupils.

The Mannschaft side went through an extensive overhaul after the 2008 European Championships. Joachim Low’s side boasted an average age of around 29, most of the players needed to be replaced. The German manager felt it was the
right time to bring in new players.
He was looking for appropriate replacements for the outgoing experienced players. Low tried and tested different players but he was not able to find the right mix. Within a year’s time he was granted his wish when Germany youth
side went all the way to win the 2009 Under-21 European Championships.
Jogi felt it was the right time to promote the juniors to senior level, as much as seven youth players were drafted in to the senior side. Players including the likes of Manuel Neuer, Mats Hummels, Jerome Boateng, Sami Khedira,
Benedikt Howedes, http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Marcel-Schmelzer-c23530 and Mesut Ozil.
All of these Under-21 European Champions were playing first team football for their respective clubs, so they knew how to handle pressure. These youngsters went on to become an integral part of the Mannschaft side that reached
the semi-finals of the 2010 World Cup, and earned rave reviews by playing some eye catching football.
Horst Hrubesch who coached these young http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Sami-Khedira-c32325
has been tremendous in the middle of the park; his performances in the current European Championships were nothing less than World class.
“Khedira was already the brain of my team. The way he's playing at the European Championship is fantastic,” Hrubesch is quoted as saying in an interview.
In his opinion Mesut Ozil could become the European Footballer of the year if he starts scoring more goals. The former Wolfsburg manager reserved special praise for the defensive unit; he thinks http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Manuel-Neuer-c23424 have
been outstanding so far; they do not put a foot wrong.
However he was a bit critical of Jerome Boateng, who he thinks has been solid so far but he needs to realise his potential.

“Hummels is outstanding in duels, Neuer is pure class, and Ozil has to start scoring more goals. Then he would be a candidate for European Footballer of the year in my opinion. Boateng plays well, but with him I still see a potential
20-30 percent that lies dormant," he added.
This young German side is on the brink of making history; they have currently won all 16 of their previous competitive matches. In order to realise their dream they have to beat a sturdy Italian side, who is capable of frustrating
them.
