Hosea Gear is ready for overseas deal after being sidelined from All Blacks RWC squad- Rugby News
Hosea Gear, who was left out from the All Blacks final Rugby World Cup squad, has hinted an overseas future starting next year. Hosea told the media on August 24 that the move is being made to compensate for the financial loss he is facing after being sidelined
from the All Blacks squad. However, the wing explained that he is not leaving the All Blacks forever and will be back in the side after sometime.
All Blacks coach, Graham Henry, revealed his 30-member squad for the forthcoming Rugby World Cup on August 23 and axed at least five senior campaigners including Hosea Gear from his side. Among the other axed players, the list includes Sitiveni Sivivatu,
Wyatt Crockett, Liam Messam, and Jarrad Hoeata. All of them have good experience playing international rugby but have been unable to impress selectors for a chance to represent their country in the world showpiece.
The 27-year-old wing has been playing for All Blacks since 2008 and has made a place in his national side for six International matches. He was impressive with his performance in his all outgoings as he managed to earn 25 points. Gear has also got decent
experience in the Super Rugby format with 32 caps for the Hurricanes. The player has also remained part of New Zealand Sevens rugby team during the Commonwealth games 2010.
Talking to the reporters about his latest intentions, Gear said that, “Obviously I'd like to be back in there [to the All Blacks] but, from experience, I've sort of been in and out and I'm not getting any younger now and I've got a young family to think
about and take care of.”
Expressing his disappointment for not being the part of All Blacks for Rugby World Cup 2011, he said that, “This [the world cup] has been my goal for the last three or four years and I think it's time to maybe take that next step. Obviously I need to re-set
my goals. It's kind of like starting all over again and setting a new vision and platform for myself.”
Rugby World Cup 2011 is kicking off within less than three weeks in New Zealand.
