  1. i would call the hospital and ask

  2. Usually 15 or 16.  I started at 15 through my high school counselor.  That was years ago, but I imagine the rules are close to the same.  Call the red cross...they might help get you in as well. I did not have to have any training or license.  I was just a "candy striper."  I helped out where needed.  I later got my first aid training and then CPR and later went to technical school and became a paramedic.

If you are interested in the kids area, see if they have an animal therapy program at the hospital.  I was once part of the animal therapy program which is great for children.  The ones that were not allergic, just loved to pet animals (dogs, rabbits,...).

There is also a clown program where you dress up and brighten up the day of sick and sad children.  There is some "clown school" for this and probably an age requirement of at least 16.

Hospital volunteers work without regular pay in a variety of health care settings, usually under the supervision of a nurse. Most hospitals train and supervise volunteers through a specialized non-profit organization called an auxiliary. The director of the auxiliary is usually a paid employee of the hospital.

A hospital volunteer is sometimes nicknamed a candystriper. This name is derived from the red-and-white striped jumpers that female volunteers traditionally wore. The name and uniform are used less frequently now.

Volunteers' services are of considerable importance to individual patients as well as the health care system in general. Some people volunteer during high school or college, either out of curiosity about the health-care professions or in order to satisfy mandatory community-service requirements imposed by some schools. Others volunteer at later stages in their life, particularly after retirement.

Candy Stripers originated as a high-school civics class project in East Orange, New Jersey, in 1944. The uniforms were sewn by the girls in the class from material provided by the teacher - a red-and-white-striped fabric known as "candy stripe". (source: Adele Huck McCain, a student in the class). The students chose East Orange General Hospital as the home for their class project.

  4. 19 and above.

  5. i dont really know but i think u gotta be at least like 17? i might be rong though so

  6. I think half the people on this post are confused, but like the others that actually know what they are talking about, it depends where you wanna volunteer.  Some places start as young as 13 and others might be alittle bit more strict.  Most hospitals have a department that deals with volunteers, so I would contact the hospital directly (or course you can always go through your religous organization, school, word of mouth, the internet, Red cross... the list goes on)

Now, if you wanna WORK at the hospital for pay, you gotta submit a resume and all that.  If you are qualified and of legal age to work, then you will get hired.

  7. Whell, you need to go to school. But when you get out you need to find a job. Soo your probaly going to be 24 if your lucky!

  8. well i think 21 but i also think u have 2 go to med school for that

  9. i think 18 but you have to get a type of license

  10. 21

  11. kids section normally 16-18 to start and go through a minor psyche test + a background check also having younger siblings helps

  12. When I was 15 I was a Candy Striper. That is what they called  us. We were a group of kids who volunteered at the hospital. I worked in an office but a friend of mine read to the kids. Some people delivered lunches. The girls had to wear these ugly red and white stripped jumper dresses. But it was a good experience.

I guess it all depends on where you live. Different hospitals probably have different rules. You could call them.
