I just got a volenteering position at St. Mary's Medical Center and I was told that I'm going to be working in Case Management. Does anybody know what this is?

  1. when there is a case you will be incharge of all of the desk work for it! meaning you will asign the room book the OR and stuff like that! i think!!!!!

  2. You will probably be working with a healthcare professional (social worker, nurse) with patients who are challenging -- in transition from inpatient to some other arrangement such as rehabilitation, assisted living, or a nursing home. Lots of details to attend to, and the patients and their families will present a lot of challenges. You could end up doing some very interesting things, and of course you will probably have to start off at the bottom rung, answering the phone, xeroxing, etc. Good luck to you!

  3. Case management makes arrangements for pt's to go home, they deal with insurance companies, home health, ect
