  1. As a Pens fan, it was extremely frustrating that Hossa left... but there was nothing 'unfair' about it.  The Wings are still under the salary cap, Hossa was an unrestricted free agent, and they agreed on a contract.  That's about all there is to it.

When Hossa said he would take less money to play for a good team, everyone assumed he was talking about Pittsburgh.  Bad assumption.

  2. Only thing that makes me HAPPY about his behind going to Detroit...is the fact he has to watch those championship banners rise to the rafters in Joe Louis Arena and see them recieve thier rings and knowing he was only 2 wins away from doing in Pittsburgh. He's freaking stupid for not taking thier offer. 7 million a yr for 7 yrs. He wanted a long term deal..i guess just one yr is long enough.

  3. How would it not be fair?  He went to the team that he thought would have a better chance at getting him the cup.  As far as him leaving the Pens, I'm quite disappointed in him, especially after his remarks about "taking less pay" to stay in the Burgh.

  4. all i have to say is touche to redwingsdynasty u hit it right on the head. everything about this wing team is pure skill and pur work ethic. all drafted by the wings.. i tip my hat off to redwingsdynasty u have it correct!!

  5. Oh yeah.

I felt bad when Shanny left the wings for the Rangers.........but he wanted to move on.........money was not an issue there.........When LaPointe left he went for money.........I was surprised Hossa made the move, but Detroit is a great organization and  I guess he wants a shot at a ring........he has his best chance with us.

  6. Not to the rest of the teams in the NHL. And you bet Maid Marian will zip right out of Detroit after this season, regardless if they win the Cup or not.

  7. It was 100% fair. There was nothing wrong in it.

But saying I'm a PENS fan; I was extremely disappointed him. We offered him a 5 year contract worth 7 mil a year and then he claimed "he wanted more years" so then we came out and offered him a 7 year 7.3 mil(I'm not exactly sure if that's the amount).......then he turned that down for a one year contract in Detroit. He lied to us.....he lead us on.....and then he slapped us in the face. Is he now the most hated in man in Southwestern PA? I do believe so. I mean I've got my proof in one video.....

Now is that a bit out of hand? Yes it is. I was only joking about burning my Hossa shirt........

BUT....yes it's completely fair.....even if the PENS fans tell you it isn't, it is. They just still have a sour heart. I still have somewhat of a sour heart, but I can admit what's right and wrong.

  8. victory is forever.  sounds like a long enough deal to me, and a good one at that.  he wasn't going to win with the Pens, because the Pens aren't going to win.  you forget that they would have to play a western conference team before they get the cup.  In my opinion, either Dallas or San Jose would have won the cup if Detroit did not.

Hossa going to the Wings isn't even, but it is fair.  It's not like this team is a team that we bought like some might say about past Red Wings teams (which were pretty expensive, and pretty legendary).  We drafted our starting line.  We drafted our second line (until Hossa came along).  We drafted every player worth spending a lot of money on other than Brian Rafalski.  Even guys we didn't draft like Drapes and Maltz have been here for most of their career, or like Dirty Dan Cleary, they want to spend the majority of the rest of their career in Detroit.  Almost everybody on the Detroit Red Wings also gives 110% effort, all the time.   This isn't just a group of veteran stars signed and put together on stacked lines of hall of famers like Wings' teams of old.  This new Detroit team has more chemistry, more determination, a better work ethic, and more maturity than any other team in the league because they've all grown together and Ken Holland has done a good job of putting together a dynamic squad and KEEPING them together.  Adding Marian Hossa will help ensure a Cup win, but I don't think this team was going to lose next year as it is.  Of course I am bias somewhat, but I'm also playing the odds.  I honestly think we can't lose next year.  I just don't see it happening.

  9. Nothing unfair about it....certain towns like Detroit and New York (to a lesser extent) attract great players because they want to win a cup (not in NY, thats so they can play in the big city).  That doesnt make it unfair persay.  It's also why we don't award the Stanely Cup on July 1st.  There have been plenty of teams that have looked great on paper and not succeed.....(although I dont think that is the case here)

  10. marian hossa is going to the wings but i don't know about his brother but i guess the person above me just said it.

  11. Hossa went back to the Czech league!

OH, you mean Marian? OH... I was talking Marcel.....

  12. Yes, it is fair.

The Wings have done nothing illegal. They worked within the salary cap, they picked up an unrestricted free agent.

There is nothing unfair about this.

If nothing like this ever happened in the NHL, it wouldn't make the game get any harder... but now since there is a heightened sense of competition, it's going to demand the best out of their opposition, and that will only make the skill of the game progress.
