Hossa has 4 teams on his list?

Question

There are four teams with offers for Hossa, and they're stating that Hossa prefers Detroit, but that Detroit is offering the least $$$$.

I can't really see this happening, but I'd laugh hysterically if it did. Hossa coming to Detroit for less money?

If he is truly more interested in winning Cups then he should be considering the Wings. He would have to take less and he obviously knew that before he became a free agent. Holland has already stated that nobody will make more than Lidstrom so over 8 mill isnt a possibility. Atlanta has said they will break the bank if he would come back and the Oilers have already offered a deal believed to be over 9 mill. per and something along the lines of an 8 to 10 year contract. If money were the only issue he would have signed by now, I am betting he gets a deal tomorrow morning and either signs with the Wings or Rangers (he only signs there if the Rangers dont ink Jagr or win the Redden sweepstakes). The Wings have made no secret of their desire to sign a top 6 scoring winger so I guess I can see it happening (remember....nobody could have guessed they would enter the Rafalski sweepstakes last year, they werent even mentioned in any rumors the morning he signed).

Well, Hossa did say something like that if it was ALL about the money for him, he would go back to Atlanta. So he'd take a bit less than what he thinks he can get on the market to play for a good team. $7 million for 5 years from the Pens wasn't enough though. So perhaps we should think upwards of that.

if he goes to detroit then the cup is as good as Detroits AGAIN. but i can't see him for playing for less then 6 million. ( id rather have Zetterberg Locked up over Hossa) but its nice to imagine

Well that'd be great.  And its no wonder Detroit is offering the least money.  They've done it for years.  They want people who play to win not for the dough.  Chelios, Osgood, Lilja... just to name a few.  They want people who are willing to take paycuts... Lidstrom... although its still crazy money lol...

plus with Zetterberg, Franzen, Filppula, Hudler all being free agents after next year, Holland needs to save money to re-sign them.

There is no way that Hossa is going Detroit for less money when he already stated he is willing to take less money to stay in Pittsburgh where he belongs.
