Hossein Vafaei Ayouri trounces Muhammad Sajjad in semi-final of 7-Nation Snooker Championship
Crowd present at the Pearl Continental Hotel arena in Karachi, Pakistan witnessed the most thrilling and tussling semi-final encounter of the 2012 Jubilee Insurance 7-Nation International Snooker Championship where Iran’s Hossein Vafaei Ayouri trounced the
local hero, Muhammad Sajjad by a close score line of 6-5.
Both potters were on top of their game and had a superb run in the tournament. The clash was expected to be the thriller as both Sajjad and Ayouri were considered the top contenders to lift the trophy. Sajjad pushed Ayouri down in the first round of the
match but Ayouri pulled back brilliantly to move neck-and-neck with the Pakistani potter and finally claim the victory.
Sajjad made his way into the semi-final match after beating Egypt’s Mohamed Ibrahim Mohamed by the score line of 5-3 in the quarter-final stage. On the other hand, Ayouri raced into the semi-final encounter against Sajjad after ousting Pakistan’s Abdul Sattar
by a whitewash win at 5-0.
The semi-final game began with Sajjad’s cracking victory in the first scrappy frame by the score line of 5-90 to lead the match by 0-1. Ayouri replied brilliantly with a couple of decent breaks to win the second frame 61-14 and pull level at 1-1. Sargodha’s
Sajjad grabbed the game lead by 1-2 again after winning the third crucial frame by a tremendous score line of 0-80.
The Iranian National Champion responded in the same fashion by clinching the fourth frame by 81-0 to equalise the scores at 2-2. The second session of the game commenced with the Pakistani’s back-to-back frame wins by 5-70 and 9-108 after he pocketed a couple
of stunning clearances.
Sajjad was leading the game 2-4 when Ayouri won the seventh frame to move within one frame up at 3-4. The former Pakistan National Champion, Sajjad, hit the eighth frame win by 7-69 to extend his lead to 3-5. Sajjad was at the brink to clinch the semi-final
encounter when he missed a simple red to let Ayouri at the table.
Ayouri cleared the table in the next three frames by scores of 88-17, 69-56 and 76-15 and won the semi-final by 6-5 to reach the final clash of the 2012 Jubilee Insurance 7-Nation International Snooker Championship.
