Iran’s Hossein Vafaei has successfully booked a place in the list of new professional potters who will be playing among the top guns of snooker during his new campaign. The Iranian is quite excited about his entrance in the professional circuit and hopes
he will perform up to the mark in the upcoming pro events.
The young potter idealises two of the most outstanding potters of the world, the 2012 German Masters snooker tournament winner Ronnie O’Sullivan and the former four-time World Snooker Championship winner, Scotland’s John Higgins. The emerging young potter
is ambitious to follow the pair and earn a place they have achieved so far in their career.
He will be looking forward to play against them one day in his career. Vafaei stated that being a successful champion was his goal and his father’s dream and he has proved his class when he defeated the Welshman Lee Walker in the final of 2011 International
Billiards and Snooker Federation (IBSF) Amateur Snooker Championship by the score line of 10-9.
Speaking to World Snooker, Vafaei said, “There was a club opposite my house and I was curious to see what it looked like inside. One day I asked my father about the club and he held my hand and took me inside. From then on I fell in love snooker. I used
to go to the club after school and even finished my homework there.”
The 17-year-old is eyeing to hot the top 16 after he performs brilliantly in the next snooker season. He feels proud to be an Iranian cueman and has ambitions to make his nation proud with his form in the circuit.
He added, “I am very proud to be the first Iranian pro and I hope I can do well to make my people happy. My Federation has supported me enormously and I hope I can do well to make them proud.”
Currently the potters from around the world are preparing for the 2012 World Snooker Championship. Right now, the qualifying session of the Championship is underway where the potters are doing their best to book their place in the initial stages of the mega
event at the Crucible Theatre in Sheffield.
