Question:

Host Family letter to Germany!?

I am applying to study abroad. And I have to write a letter to my Host Family. If I get accepted I will be going to Germany, although I don't think I'm suppose to mention the country specifically in the letter. It gives me stuff to write about, but I'm just not sure how to write it. What should I write? I'm not asking anyone to write it for me, just for some help.

Thanks. :)

  1. OK, I've hosted 13 students now and looking for my 14th.

Not to put any pressure on you, but that letter is the most important part of your application! Your prospective host family will pour over it looking for every tiny detail about you!

The most important thing is to tell the truth! Your family is picking you because of what they read in that letter and on your application. If you tell them that you don't smoke for example, and they find out that you do, that's bad. You get off on the wrong foot!

Here's what I like to read:

Tell me about your family and your relationship to each member.

What rules are you used to in your home.

What is your school like and what are your favorite classes (and why).

Do you like sports, which ones? Music? etc.

How do you spend your free time?

    Describe a typical day.

And finally, why are you doing this? What is your motivation?

Here's a great site on exchange students in general! http://www.exchangestudentworld.com/

Good luck and have a great year!

  2. tell them about your self and what you want to accomplish
