Hostels in india?

would I be able to stay in a hostel for an extended period of time, around 4 months

I cannot make up what do you mean by extewnded period of time. If you are referring to hostel accommodation of any School or College, you will have to vacate the hostel after completion of studies.   However, if you are referring to general hostels, you can stay as long as you like with the permission of hostel authorities.

Try YMCA ,  Mumbai & New Delhi & YWCA Chennai.

Tariff includes breakfast & dinner, veg & non-veg.

You need not necessarily be a member. Management

will collect a temporary membership fee.

You have to check with the manager whether  you would be accommodated for four months.

Try Youth Hostel in New Delhi.

You will find accommodation in Modern Hindu Hotel,

& also National Hindu Hotel in Mumbai. You need recommendation from a known person to the said hotels.

Food is also included in their tariff.  Vegetarian

If you check city guides which are available with book shops,

you will find addresses of paying guest accommodations in

Delhi,Chennai,Mumbai , Calcutta, & Bangalore.
