I recently interviewed for a hostess/cashier position...at a Casino Downtown in the city where I live. This is a 3-star restaurant...I was informed at the Interview that the hourly was $12.00 but When I received the callback saying I was selected as a candidate the woman told me 13.78 (which is even better)

Now...Im really wondering why they pay so much...for a hostess postion and why I was told two different wages.I dont want to ask "Why do you guys here pay so much" but I would like to know. I dont know if the job consists of more than What I think it does..or what but from what I know so far I'll just be seating people and working the cash register I may have to buss tables here and there(Because I did at dennys when It got busy.

I wont know anything Until I meet with the lady Tuesday. I was thinking maybe they recently got a $1.78 raise...Im not sure why i was told two diff things.

But has anyone gotten paid over 10.00/hr TO START for a hostess position? and If so, where

  1. i lived in las vegas where casinos pay like 12.00 an hr for hosting and even bussing. they did because it was a union and thats just what they paid. i dont know what city you are in but working for a casino in las vegas is really good pay. servers get paid like 12.00 and hr plus tips. and they get benifits. i would check to see if they are union. did you have to take a drug test or anything? (most union jobs/casinos require it) but most likely the pay is that good because its a casino.

  2. well just be thankfull you have a good paying job and dont question it be thankfull

  3. That does seem like a lot to start. There are places of employment that do that becuz the company may be a caring company, but it really depends how much the menu is. That could certainly lead to a hire starting pay. It could also be desperation for a new hostess or they are secretly only hiring a few employees so that they can work them harder than paying more for additional workers.
