Hostess gift? We stayed at our sister in laws house and we had my son's birthday party there.. should I?

buy them a gift or is a thank you card suffice. If your answer is gift.. what type of gift????

Depends on the person. A card is a must but a small present would be sweet. Send maybe like some cookies, or tea, or soemthing like that?

Some flowers with a short thank-you message would be nice.

A gift that would fit her personality. If she has roosters in her kitchen, then maybe a towel and oven mitt with roosters on them. Or if she likes scrappbooking, a new pair of special scissors. If she likes to read, a new bestselling book. You get the picture. Also flowers are always nice too.

You should always bring a gift to someones house when you stay there.  Then follow up with a thank you card afterwards.

Since you had a party there, if she helped prepare for,  pay or just opened her home for you to have a party, a very nice gift or  flowers are very appropriate along with a heart felt thank you.

Since these are 2 different things, they should both be acknowledged.  

Ask your mother in law what an appropriate gift would be, she may know of a specific thing she would like that would be something she wouldnt' buy jfor herself.

a simple card is fine, but if you want to go out of your way, send a gift from harry and david... inexpensive is around $30  including the shipping...(give them the price you want to spend)and they are a fab company  great customer service..and a   great gift!

If she paid for everything then buy a gift...something pretty for a kitchen maybe.  If you bought the food and she supplied the house then just a thank you.

sure why not send a card with some chocolates or flowers or both lol its nice of you to think of her enough to thank her in a special way
