  1. girl scouts is a volunteer organazation as far as troop leaders

  2. I am assistant leader to two Girl Scout troops, one for each of my daughters. Just about everyone the girls actually see - leaders, camp directors, activity organizers, etc. are volunteers.

In fact, a lot of us pay for stuff. For example, I pick up craft supplies at a garage sale, but don't bill the troop. Or drive the Girl Scouts to an event, pay my own admission, and don't plan to get reimbursed for gas.

We do this because we want to make the world a better place - not just for our children, but for all those we can reach.

  3. Girl Scout Leaders are almost all volunteers.  There are some special programs run by a local Girl Scout Council which use staff members to deliver the programming, but these are generally special outreach programs to "under served" populations (such as girls in a homeless shelter, low income housing, etc. - but that doesn't mean ALL troops in those scenarios are run by paid staff members).
