Hot = Popular in High School?

Question

do HOT as in really, really good looking people become automatically popular in high school? as for automatically, as in she's got average personality or talent but since she's SO HOT, people approach her and want to be her friend. could this be the case?

I know this question sounds so shallow and senseless but I want to know. PLEASE no cliche answers. As in "looks are not what matters",etc. 100% correct, but lets just look at the shallow reality: high school.

No. The popular girls at my school really aren't that good looking. It's there personality.

Now guys are a different story.

HOT is among the traits one might have when thought of as "popular". People can be popular for many reasons though. Alot of really hideous people were popular in high school simply because "they're nice" or maybe from being a teachers pet.

It's very lame & ignorant to try and latch on to someone just because you think they're hotness might get you in the "in crowd"

Try looking for people of quality & intelligence rather than superficial nonsense.

Sometimes that is the case.

But being attractive in high school can invite jealous vindictiveness in classmates who are less attractive.  Pretty girls can be desired by the boys, but totally shut out by the girls.  

Its a no-win situation sometimes.  Nobody wants to be ugly, but if you're too pretty, the other girls will sometimes avoid inviting you to functions so that you don't take away all the boy's attention from them.

Not really... well most of the time yes... its really sad. But Theres this girl in my highschool... thats MORBIDLY obese... (No Offence or anything) but becasue her parents are filthyyyyyy rich.. she IS the most popular girl in school.

Being attractive can be a trait which is found to be liked at the beginning of friendships and relationships but personalities attitudes determine a person's status after a few weeks of school as well what happens to the friendships and relationships forged in the beginning of school. Generally, it is the outgoing and nice people who become 'popular'. So unless an attractive girl is actually nice and has her head on her shoulders then no, they aren't popular - not implying that attractive girls are stupid at all - however, your question seems based on all the teen high school movies around though.
