The sales figures for the software sales of the Vita are in and Hot Shots Golf 6 top the charts with Uncharted: Golden Abyss right behind
The PlayStation Vita was released in Japan in the past few days and everyone seems to have wanted to know the sales figures for Sony’s next generation portable gaming console. The Vita itself sold a lukewarm 325,000 units in its first week.
However, that was below what the Nintendo 3DS sold in the same time period over the past few days as well, meaning that for now the 3DS still dominates in Japan. Having said that, many consumers were cautious about the Vita and one can expect the sales to
shoot up over the coming weeks once Sony can sort all the post-launch bugs out.
In terms of games, an estimated 300,000 copies of the various titles on offer were sold within 48 hours of being available.
Leagues ahead of the rest in terms of sales was Hot Shots Golf 6 which sold an impressive 61,412-units in two days. The game caters to the Japanese market that tend to stay away from the more westernized hardcore gameplay.
However, one game that the people of Japan seem to have taken to is Uncharted, as Golden Abyss is just one spot behind Hot Shots Golf in number eight spot in the software sales charts. Nathan Drake’s debut adventure on the portable console managed to convince
48,224 gamers to part with their hard earned cash on the title.
Other games that managed to do well in the charts were Dynasty Warriors Next and Lord of Apocalypse. The games sold 29,181-units and 28-742-units respectively to rank number 18 and number 19 in the charts.
It must be taken into consideration that the sales figures were recorded of just two days following both the console’s and the game’s release. One can expect the figures to rise as the Vita sells a few more units in the coming days and gamers feel more comfortable
around Sony’s new piece of technology.
