  1. there are no hot dogs in germany......its a more pure meat called salami or wurst of some kind.....why do you ask?  your thinkin of new york

  2. If you mean the stuff the people carry in front of their belly:

It's generally called a "Bauchladen".  I've seen them selling

hot dogs at soccer matches. But I'm not aware that they have

    a special name.

  3. Hot dogs aren't very popular in Germany.  There are so-called "Wienerwürstchen", which look like long, skinny hot dogs, but they aren't sold from hotdog stands, as far as I know.  Mostly you will see Bratwurst being sold at markets or places like that.  These places which sell ready-to-eat bratwurst are called "Würstchenbuden".  In general, a machine which dispenses food or drinks is called a "vending machine."  Hope this was helpful to you.

  4. I've actually never seen that machine before.  I've had friends that got hot dogs from IKEA but I don't know how they have gotten them, from a machine or person.  If I see it though, I'll go up and talk to the vendor for you.  :)

  5. I know what you mean. I know these machines only from Berlin and Cologne, and as far as I know, it's simply called a "Hotdog-Brater", that is, "hot dog fryer", and the person operating it is called the same.

But it wouldn't be Germany if there weren't some restrictions on operating that kind of machine:

    - You have to have a health certificate, and a certificate that you've been instructed to handle inflammable liquids and gases.

    - You have to have a "Reisegewerbeschein", or a license to operate your device within a specific area.

So most people once operating one of these machines gave in and opened a hot dog stand, because they couldn't fulfill all these technical and hygienic standards. They were really an enrichment to the town, but thanks to bureaucracy, they're all gone. And the hot dog stands, too, are mostly gone.

  6. Hot dogs aren't that popular in Germany, so you rarely encounter a mchine selling those over here. If you think of the German "Bratwurst" though - then the term you are looking for is "Wurstbude"

    Hope I could help

  7. we call things what they are Hotdogmaschine ( hot-dog-machine)we would call it
