Hot favourite trio for Hadrian Handicap Hurdle – Newcastle Preview
The high-value race of the Hadrian Air Conditioning Handicap Hurdle is going to be held at Newcastle track on Saturday night, March 17. With £3,639 of prize money, the Class 3 contest of 2m distance will begin at 2:35 (GMT).
The entries for the event include Red Merlin, Stormy Weather, Arctic Court, Into Wain, Higgy’s Boy, Beidh Tine Anseo, John Forbes, Embsay Crag, Danceintothelight and European Dream.
Out of these ten runners, we try to figure out who is hot and who is not. Apparently, the trio of Into Wain, Stormy Weather and Red Merlin look to be of almost equal calibre.
Here, we take a look on the career charts of the three in order to determine who has higher chances to notch up the title of the Hurdle.
Into Wain
After bagging a big victory on December 29, 2011, the Steve Gollings-trained bay gelding went on to win a race each in the first two months of 2012, thus completing second hat-trick of his career.
Interestingly, the maverick horse also won the first three races of his career in a row during February-April 2010. As a whole, he has 6 victories to his credit out of total 16 starts.
The recent hat-trick seems to have hiked the horse’s confidence greatly, and he is expected to finish first in today’s race as well. His chances to thrive are as high as 93 percent.
Stormy Weather
Brian Ellison’s grey gelding has been enjoying great form since the dawn of the calendar year. After winning a race each in January and February, the veteran horse finished second in his last outing at Newcastle.
Overall, the six-year-old talented runner has won 4 out of his total 19 outings to date. His recent success streak suggests that he will surely show a big run in today’s race as well, having at least 85 percent chances to win.
Red Merlin
The trainee of Donald McCain possesses an impressive track record. He registered a fabulous hat-trick by winning the last three outings of his career in a row during March-April 2011.
His maiden hat-trick came during May-July 2009. As a whole, the brilliant horse has won 9 races to date out of his total 31 starts.
He is going to stage a comeback today after a long gap of almost one year. There is expected a stunning performance from him. His chances to win are 80 percent because there lies a little bit uncertainty about his performance due to the long interval.
Conclusion
In the light of the above analysis, it is concluded that Into Wain stands as the hot favourite contender for the Hurdle title. But each of the other two favourite runners will struggle every nerve to thrive. Let us see who gains what. Good luck to the trio.
