Well... The easiest way I have used is the new "prepaid" visa cards that have recently hit the markets. They can be purchased in any amount and after that amount is used either discard them or reload them. Now I know that this is still technically a credit card but this is a whole lot safer and easier than using a traditional credit card for online transactions. Also another secure source for the internet is paypal accounts. This account can be paid through your bank account and is accepted in most online markets

A lot of places will let you pay with a money order.  You make the order and they put it on hold until they get your money order.  Usually they have a phone number to call to speak to a human.  If not you don't want to buy there anyway.

Some places will take a check too.  They can even take money out of your checking account with your permission,  a 'paperless' check.
