Hot tub green water?

just got a hot tub, and the guy we got it off said u dont need to put chemicals in it but now the waters like green and my dad says if you just keep putting the chemicals in the water will go clear like normal water but i say u gotta drain the water and then put the chemicals in every once and a while so whats the deal how do u get the water back to normal

You are better off draining it and start all over again or it can cost you a ton of money to treat the dirty water. A good chemical balance is necessary to keep the tub sanitised. Purchase a test kit from your local pool and spa store and bring with you a bottle of sample water from your tub once you've refilled it. They'll test the water for you for free and tell you what it needs. It will help them if you know the water capacity of the tub also. Good luck and enjoy your hot tub!
