Hello everyone, I recenty bought a used hot tub and I wired up the GFCI without any problems. I filled the tub with water and went to turn on the jets but, no luck :( The lights on the tub work and when I press the button to turn on the jets I hear a humm and a click then nothing. Does anyone have any tips to diagnose the problem? thanks! The control pannel is a spa builders lx-15 if that helps. THANKS!

  1. All are good answers...

I would suggest making sure your capacitor on the motors are in good shape.  If the impeller is not frozen this is your most likely problem.  be careful when handling them since they can zap you and then some. (Dangerous)  A screwdriver over both leads can discharge it.  Be sure your handle is rubber insulated.  I make everyone use rubber gloves also.

If it is not your motor, you will most likely find the relay on your board is not getting enough voltage and the board needs to be replaced.  That board is a problem board that we replace often.

  2. is it 220/240 volt ?

  3. check to see if the hot tub is wired for 110 volt or 220 volt. If its 220 volt and your wired to 110 volt the jets won't work.

  4. Hi, The pump is either frozen or something is blocking the impeller from turning. The click is an automatic breaker tripping. It will cool and reset itself usually.Take the pump apart enough to try to get the shaft turning and you may be good to go. Otherwise, bad pump.
