New hot water heater installed recently. Now my water pressure is lower than before and the water is cloudy. Any idea what's going on? Thanks.

  1. check that the shut off valve is all the way open.  Also check if there are any leaks letting air in.

    Good Luck

  2. HAVE YOU REMOVED ALL THE AIREATORS FOM THE FAUCETS AND CLEANED THEM?

BE WILLING TO BET CHA THATS THE PROBLEM,ALSO MAKE SURE THE WATER IS TURNED ON ALL THE WAY,DO YOU HAVE A SHUTOFF AT THE WTR.HTR. OR DO YOU ONLY HAVE THE SHUT OFF AT THE METER OUTSIDE?EITHER WAY,MAKE SURE THE WATER IS TURNED ALL THE WAY ON.AS FAR AS BEING CLOUDY,THAT WILL GO AWAY,JUST SETTIMENTS IN THE LINES,

  3. The cloudiness is dissolved gasses in the water, and probably harmless.  It should clear out in a day or two.  If you set a glass of water on the counter, you can watch the tiny bubbles rise to the top.

As for the pressure, check the aerators for debris and valves to make sure that they're full open.

If there is a leak in a pressurized water pipe, water will squirt out - air will not 'leak in'.

  4. Good job Steve, I was wondering if anyone else was going to catch the air thing.   Sometimes it's more fun reading the answers than the questions.

  5. Your pressure problem may be from debris broken loose during the replacement of your water heater. Minerals build up inside the water lines, and if a bit broke off and lodged in a valve or faucet, then the flow will be restricted. One way to test is to carefully monitor the first few seconds of pressure when you open a valve. If you get normal pressure that quickly drops, then there is something lodged in the valve.

My suggestion is to call the installers and have them check for debris.

If the cloudiness hasn't disappeared in 2 months, it ain't gonna disappear. If the water is clear until the hot water arrives, your waterheater temp. setting may be too high. Have that checked, too
