  1. Normally you would leave the old one in your old house.

  2. Not exactly understanding your question here.  Did you buy a new water heater to be installed in your previous home and then move before you could get it installed, or did you take the water heater out of the previous home and bring it with you???   If it's the first idea, then I'd just park it in the basement, if it's the same type as what's there, and use it when the  current one quits.  They only last about 10 -15 years tops, before leaking or causing trouble.  It won't deteriorate as long as it's inside and dry.   If it's the latter idea then I feel sorry for the folks who bought your old house.

  3. I do agree with the other person, leave it in the old house.

If you need to bring it with you to the new house, just take a look at both and then decide which is in better functional condition and keep that one.

Try to sell the remaining, if not, give it as a gift/donate it, if not, recycle it.

  4. if its not hooked up take it what are you out if it does not work moving it?
