Hot water not heated as usual ?

Question

over the last week my hot water has not been the usual temperature. Actually it has been cold a number of times in the past week, particularly in the evenings (ie: evening shower)

There have been no adjustments made to the thermostat on the cylinder and the hot water fuse has not tripped out.

The cylinder is approx 5 years old
