Hot water tank & well water problem?

We have a well and our well water is very hard. We have a whole house filter as well as a water softener. About 8 yrs. ago we replaced our entire furnace system. Currently we have a weil mcclain hot water tank (gold plus) with a weil mcclain oil burner We have replaced the hot water tank in 2006 due to leakage that was blamed on our water. Today I came downstairs and discovered this newer tank is leaking from the bottom. If this tank needs to be replaced it will be our 3rd tank in 8 yrs. Has anyone suffered through this before? We have a high copper content in our well water.

I am at a loss to figure out what we should be using. We were under the impression that the tank we have had a ceramic inner tank that would be impervious to all the mineral content of our water. Is there a better system - you would think that someone would have addressed that others have hard well water as well and there must be a system somewhere that works with that.

  1. Is your water softner feeding the tank.Water softners use salt(as I am sure you are aware of) which doesn't get fully removed. In fact softened water will void icemaker warenties.

  2. I have never come across your particular problem before but i have extensive knowledge with water purtification. What drops out our salt in our system is a water aerator which drops out the soluable solids which may help you guys. They are readily available in the states just look up DEIRONISING  that should get you going

  3. Check and see if the tank is still under warranty before you buy a new one.  Most tanks have at least 5 year warranties.  You might try a different anode in your new water heater to protect it from leaking.  http://www.waterheaterrescue.com/pages/W...
