Question:

Hotel Breakers & Cedar Point Park Passes?

My hubby & I are plannning on going to Cedar Point for our 10 year anniversary. We've never been before, but the idea of staying at Hotel Breakers and walking to the park seems very appealling.

When I searched Hotel Breakers, I found a couple low priced rooms ($70) and I think it said they're in the old section. Should I be wary of these? If so, why and where would you recommend in the Hotel instead and what should I expect to pay?

Also, we'd probably like to go to Cedar Point 2 days. What's the best tickets to buy (or is there a package deal?) and are there any that allow you to get in the night before after a certain time for a cheaper price?

  1. There are many other hotels in the area. Many offer shuttle services to the park. I went last summer and the whole main drag is nothing but hotels, restaurants, and other attractions. For ticket prices go to www.cedarpoint.com. Happy anniversary!

  2. Honestly, I'm from the area and nobody I've ever met stayed at Hotel Breakers.  The entire hotel is really old, but like you said, it's convenient...most of the rooms usually go for $100 or more a night though, so maybe the timing is just good!  There are lots of other nearby hotels that are away from the park, but can offer you a nicer, newer room if you're willing to make a short drive.  Look for hotels in Avery, which is about 10 minutes away, and all the hotel staff will be able to give you easy directions.  Call Cedar Point and tell them what you're planning, and see if they have any special packages...this is a good time of year to go!

  3. I am from the area and i stay at the breakers a few times each summer. Like you said, it is very convenient. It is actually a pretty nice hotel too, at least one of the nicest you will find in the area. There are plenty of things to do at the hotel as well. Some of these include restaurants and indoor/outdoor pools.

Yeah, you definitely want to go to cedar point for two days, there is just so much to do. Im pretty sure that if you stay at the breakers then you can get in the park an hour early each morning.

As far as the tickets go, they dont have a two day pass thing unless you want to spend one day at the park and one day at their water park (soak city). They do have a starlight pass for around $20 that allows you to get into the park after 5 pm.

  4. If you go to Cedar Point's website they have a package deal where you get the room, 2 twilight (after 4pm) tix, 2 regular tix, Challenge Park tix, and $30 Munch Money coupons.  The price varies based on room type, but the Breakers packages run from May 15-June 30 then start again after August 10, since July is their peak season.

In 1999, they tore down some old sections to build The Tower & Breakers East sections.  Those rooms cost more, but are newer, larger, and have great views of the beach. Intact are the lobby, rotunda & Bon Air sections...that is where the less expensive rooms are.  They are old, but nowhere near as bad as people say on TripAdvisor, and I've stayed at The Pennisula in Chicago, which is the top-rated hotel in the US, so I know hotels.  The Bon Air section is old, and it has an old hotel smell.  If you've stayed at The Grand Hotel in Mackinac Island, you get the idea.  The rooms are small, but if you are just looking to crash after a long day in the park, it will serve your needs. The 10th floor of The Towers is the Concierge level, where they have a private lounge with drinks and snacks that is open all day.

The Breakers has a nice beach and great atmosphere, but it is pricey, like anything near an Amusement Park...but you're thisclose to the awesome park when you stay there, which is great.  I am going there in June!

There are some neat fansites with great info, just do a search and you will find them.  Happy Anniversary and have fun!

  5. I would say go to www.hotels.com and look at the reviews that Hotel Breakers has gotten. The rooms may not be bad, and depending on what days you go and the season, this will also cause the price to be lower.

Also go to www.cedarpoint.com to see if they have any two day passes or package deals. They used to send out a little magazine to people that requested them and they had coupons in them, I don't know if they still do that or not.

You and your husband will have an absolute BLAST if you are amusement park (and roller coaster!) enthusiasts. Cedar Point is awesome!!!
