  1. It's good to book the hotel rooms earlier to avoid troubles and confusions at the destination or atleast know about the hotels before you reach there. Check Thailand hotels http://hotels.americacheaphotels.com/Cou...

  2. Well, when are you going?  Right now you probably wouldn't have a problem with getting a hotel with walk-in.  Around Christmas or New Years holidays you may need a reservation at some of the more expensive hotels to stay at.

If you are arriving close to the Christmas-New Years holidays I would book ahead just so you have a place to go to right away.  If you are arriving late at night your choices are more limited unless you don't mind carrying everything you value with you walking the streets that late at night.  If you have never been to Thailand and you are not familiar with the city book at least one night.

Cheaper hotels during high season do raise their prices but not by much, you may have to look a little harder compared to August or September.  Expensive hotels sometimes bump their prices way up and are fully booked.

If you need any recommendations mention how much per night you want to spend and when you are going to be in Thailand.   Don't say "cheap hotel" or "economy" or "not expensive" - these terms mean different things to different people - mention a baht figure.  There are some hotels that you can book with a simple free email.  You can also call some hotels from the airport and inquire about vacancies.

For Bangkok get a hotel near the Skytrain so you can use that overhead transportation to get around town easily.  In Pattaya get a hotel near Pattaya 2nd Road (Pattaya Sai Song) so you can walk to many places.

    Good luck

  3. I have to agree with Karzayal in that if you are going during a holiday, Christmas or New Years, it would be best to book before coming.  If cost is not a problem then do what you may. If you decide while you are in Thailand to book a hotel elsewhere and if you have a 24-48 hours before you go there.  Do the booking online and save a few bucks.  The "problem" with booking it online is that it will take 12-24 hours before a confirmation of the reservation.

These 3 websites following have similar pricing overall

    www.asiarooms.com

    www.sawadee.com

    www.res24.com

I would try on 2 or all three sites for hotels and then cancel based on your preference.  Just make sure you are connected to a printer and you are in business.

    Good luck
