Hotel chains that only charge on check-out?

Hi there

Does anyone know of any hotel chains in Spain, the Canaries or Portugal that only charge for the rooms on check-out? I.e. you can reserve now with your card but the balance is only payable when you check-out (or even check-in)?

I know Riu hotels do but was wondering if there were any others? Can't find any on the internet...

I'm desperate for a holiday but need time to get the money together for it! Booking a hotel this way allows you to save up!

Thanks!

  1. If you book directly with a hotel you will pay on check-out.  You make a reservation on the relevant hotel website, provide your credit card details, and you will only be charged when departing the hotel.  I haven't yet seen a hotel which does not allow this, but if a hotel prefers payment in advance it will be stated on the website.

The only time you should need to pay in advance is when booking through a travel/hotel agency such as Venere or Expedia.

  2. Don't all hotels and chains charge at check-out? Or maybe I misunderstand your question. Yes, they'll still need to verify the credit card when you check in but won't charge you until you check out to sign the final bill with any additional charges like breakfast, room service, use of the minibar items, or other services.

Maybe you're asking if you can reserve a room without a credit card and then pay cash at check-out?

Maybe it's best to contact your desired hotel directly and make the reservation with them by phone or through their website. I'm pretty sure they won't charge you until you check-out but will still need to put your credit card number on file and to verify it also.

    Happy Holidays!
