Hotel check in and flying standby?

I'm flying standby to LAX on Saturday evening. I should arrive by 7:15pm, if I make the flight. I want to book hotel reservations but the hotel check-in time is 1pm. Does this mean I have to check in before or after 1pm? I will most likely get to the hotel by 8pm.

No worries, it is the earliest time a room will be ready for you. If you reserved with a CC, you guarantee late arrival, so 8pm is ok. They will charge for that night if you arrive the next day and do not call them to cancel by the time they specify.
