  1. travel lodge in docklands

  2. I always stay in one of several guest houses (B&B) in Chelsea. So muchnicer than large impersonal hotels. Look for places near Oakley, and Chayne Walk. Between £60 and £90. They are usually very clean, close to all the attractions by tube, bus, or walking. The usually attract a younger clientele, but not rowdy. And very important it is one of the safer parts of the city.

  3. how about the travel lodge or pemier inn? if not there are plenty of cheap b+b's  if you are not staying long.

  4. you must give more details as to your requirements. The cheaper hotels within reach of central London will often lack en-suite facilities. Also what do you call cheap? You can get from £40+ but they are not going to be what i think of as clean and pleasant. Would you stay in a  clean hostel?

A clean hotel with en-suites around central areas is going to cost £80+. Check out

  7. During my last trip I came across a website called http://www.cheaphotel-s.com . It has quite a large variety of hotels. You might wanna give it a try.

  8. Depending on your definition of “cheap,” I highly doubt that you will find a decent hotel in London that is low cost.  It’s good you’re open to B&Bs because I think this will be your best bet.  London has many budget B&Bs that are clean and offer a nice breakfast which is included in your room tariff.

My favorite site for B&B shopping in London and all of the UK is http://www.4hotels.co.uk.  On this site you can also look for a B&B in a specific region of London and most listings offer starting rate info and a link to the B&Bs website.  If you don’t see a link for a B&B you are looking at it’s worth googling the name of the place since the site doesn’t have websites for all of the B&Bs that are on the web.

From personal experience I can recommend the Hotel St. Simeon B&B in Kensington http://www.stsimeon.com/. This B&B had spacious rooms, gorgeous lobby, great breakfasts and was in a really nice area of the city, right off Gloucester Road tube station.

I've also stayed in the Vegas hotel http://www.vegashotel.co.uk/ near Victoria Station. This room was bizarre since you entered through the loo to get to the bed, however, at least it was ensuite, cheap, clean, included breakfast and had a television. That area around and behind Victoria has dozens of similar B&Bs, and the same is true of areas surrounding most of the city's main central train stations, King's cross area has loads, it's not quite as close to the city center but it is close to excellent transportation. Staying near Victoria is a good idea because of all the great transportation connections and it's a safe area.

Rates for these types of B&Bs usually start at around 40 pounds ($80) for a double room. Cheers!
