  1. This is a very nice and cheap B&B, near the Vatican and Underground

If you prefer an Hostel look at this link:

If you want a B&B near Spanish Steps or Campo de' Fiori look at here:

If you are American, I suggest you to go to the Drunken Ship pub, in Campo de' Fiori, full of american guys every night

  2. Rome is pretty small...you can practically walk to anywhere. Popular hotels around there are Tritone, White Hotel and Delle Nazioni Hotel.

Don't forget to indulge in gelato and pizza!

    Have a great trip!

  3. there are many hotels in Rome to choose from but I would try a site that does reviews first like this one http://www.hotelenthusiast.com/autumn/Ro... Also this company http://www.holiday-velvet.com/rome  for apartments

  4. I suggest Hotel Art by the Spanish Steps -- just steps away (forgive the pun!).

http://www.resideo.com/it/rome/44763123.... -- check there for more info, pics, online booking, etc.

As stated before, stay pretty much anywhere and be close to everything, when it comes to Rome.

You can do a city-wide quote at http://www.resideo.com/it/rome/ -- click the "Check Availability" button, choose your dates & submit the form.

    Good luck, and have fun!

  5. When we went to Rome we stayed at the Bernini Bristol, it wasn't exactly cheap, but in a good centeral location for walking to the Spanish Steps and Trevi Fountain.

There are Hop On/Off tours that can help you get around the city. Also, be sure to visit Vatican City, the wait is longggg but well worth the time.

  6. I rent a studio app in rome near the spanish steps:

    www.acj.it/tritone

(you spend less then half then if you stay in hotel in the same area:

hotel near spanish steps cost from 150 euro a person...)

    ciao

  7. I have been there twice in the last 6 months.  As long as you stay in the city of Rome itself and not outside the walls you will be near everything big.  There are four options for staying in the city: Apartments, Hotels, Hostels, and Convents.  Venere.com is good but there are other options available.  We have stayed in an apartment just 5 blocks from the Piazza del Popolo  and about the same for the vatican and we have stayed at the hotel Des Artistes near Termini station.  Both were lovely.

I know some hotels I can reccommend but I don't know if they are available or what the prices would be without your specific travel dates.  If you would like help finding a hotel please call or email me your travel dates and price range and I will be glad to see what I can find you and answer any other questions you might have.

    Ciao

  8. An excellent site for hotels in Italy is: http://en.venere.com/italy/

When you've selected a city, there's an option to pick hotels off a map and see reviews. I've found a hotel within a minute of Piazza San Marco in Venice during Carnevale two days before I wanted to go.

You might be interested into looking into convents as a relatively cheap lodging alternative. The site below has information about convents in Rome and other places in Italywhere they accept travellers. All of these include breakfast and some offer other meals cheaply. My brother and his wife stayed at one in Rome and loved it.
