  1. A hotel manager doesn't means that you need to live in the hotel, unless it's a small hotel chain in secluded area that doesn't provide it's out of town employee with housing (not part of the big hotel chain). I'm not a hotel manager but one of my good friend is a hotel manager of big chain & he gets proper housing & the working hour is similar like any other job, except that on alternate weekend he needs to come to the hotel. There's a term "manager on duty" which means that the senior staff in the hotel alternately becomes the most responsible person on a particular day. This can be the senior accountant, the chief of banquet/ function, master chef etc etc.
