Question:

Hotel saunas in Spain?

My wife and I will be travelling to Spain next year, and a friend of hers will be joining us. After a long day of sightseeing, we always like to spend some time relaxing in the sauna at our hotel. In the US, hotels will either have seperate mens/womans saunas, or have a coed bathing suit required sauna. We have heard the in Europe, nude coed saunas are common, and in fact used some of these in Germany. Is this true in Madrid and Barcelona hotels? Normally, we wouldnt mind it at all, the 2 of us being nude with strangers around, but with her friend, it could be a little awkward.

  1. You would have to check with individual hotels.  There are lots of websites, just start at a travel site like travelocity or Orbitz, or Si Spain, or something like that.

I would tend to doubt it, as Spain is generally a little more conservative than much of the rest of Europe, but that sort of thing isn't really in my expertise, so, check the websites.

(Barcelona - less conservative that Madrid)

I do know that there is an Arab bath in Sevilla, which I'm pretty sure requires suits, but is only open until about 2:00 pm, not part of any hotel, but seperate completely.  I didn't have time to check it out, though I dearly wanted to on the last visit.  might not fit your needs, though.
