Hotel without internet access?

We're staying at a hotel for a week without internet access.. I have DSL, but if i take the ethernet cable and plug it into the phone jack at the hotel, will I be able to connect to the internet that way?

haha, it's so sad how dependent i've become on my computer.

An ethernet cable will not fit into a phone jack.  They are not the same size, nor the same thing.

You have internet at home becuase you have subscribed through your phone/cable company.  

If your internet service provider supplies some dial up access, then they might be able to give you the local access number for dial up in the area you are visiting.  For example, our ISP gives us 10 hours a month of dial up.  Dial up is sloooowwww, but you could probably send/receive email.

If you're lucky, someone might have  free wireless signal near your hotel that you might be able to pick up (assuming you have a wireless card in your laptop).

NO .... the DSL is on YOUR phone line ... not the Motels .... sorry ... you're gonna hafta do without for a while

Ethernet cables will not help you, they will not fit in the phone jack. You can connect internet if you have a cellphone with internet and bluetooth on both cellphone and laptop. Just use your cellphone as modem.
