  1. I have stayed at the Strand Palace. It is very nice, but not cheap, although you may be able to get special summer offers. All the hotels in that area are expensive. Do you have to stay there? When I go to London now, I try to go in student vacation time, and stay in the London School of Economics hostels. That is cheap, with a good breakfast, and there are self catering facilities to make yourself other meals. There is a website, if you want to Google.

  2. There is an old-style B & B type hotel on Villiers Street. Nothing fancy and the rooms tend to be small, but it is clean and good value. And you couldn't be more central. I stay there when I need to be frugal.

    Royal Adelphi Hotel

    21 Villiers Street

    London WC2N 6ND

    +44 20 7930 8764

  3. premier inn and travelodge are seems to be inexpensive with full facilities.

Good luck, but  it would have been better if you could xplain the occasion too

  4. There are only two I know of: Savoy (very expensive and I think it is shut anyway for refurbishments) and the Strand Palace Hotel. Look on www.tripadvisor.com for honest reviews.

  5. I wouldn't restrict yourself to the Strand, but here a link of hotels to help you:

Covent Garden is a good alternative a few blocks back , and Trafalgar Square : http://www.cheaperthanhotels.co.uk/Unite...

The Strand Palace [ mentioned by others ] is the best known in the area as well : http://www.cheaperthanhotels.co.uk/Unite...
