  1. Try the Ibis - think there's 2 in that area. It's a room only basis - although they do breakfasts and have 24hr reception, bar and snacks.

  2. becareful in this area, lots of thieves and it is also close to the red light district.  My advice would be to stay slightly out of Paris and travel in.  There are some lovely suburbs - try Paliseau, it is only 30 minutes by train but very pretty and quiet. Plus you will not be ripped off.

Or you could try hotel chain called formulae 1, bed basis only.

  3. The Hotel des Arts in Rue Tholoze is a good clean little hotel. It is bang in the centre of Montmartre, but tends to be a little expensive these days. A good, friendly hotel though.

In Paris, do not expect spacious rooms, go for quiet and location.

    Look at www.venere.com or www.booking.com

These sites gives hotel details and independent reviews. The price is set, but you do not pay until you stay.

Consider the areas next to Montmartre. Pigalle is cheaper, and the red light is not that bad if you are not with young children or your Mum!

We are trying a new hotel on our next stay, villa van googh. It is less than 100 euros, and just in the Pigallle district.

My favourite hotel in Paris is the Fromantain in Pigalle, see if you can get a deal there.

Also, Celte La Fayette down on Rue La Fayette, modern, clean and in easy walking distance of Montmartre.

    Have a fantastic stay.

  4. Consult the eurocheapo site. There are a large number of inexpensive hotels in Montmartre. http://www.eurocheapo.com/paris/
