Can anyone recommend a good hotel in Venice? We are looking for something that's close to some transportation, and not too cheap (preferably a quality hotel). Thanks!

  1. www.hotelcaformenta.it

It is very close to St. Mark's Square and it is well connected by boats to the rest of the city. Rooms are nice, but I can't really remember how much they charge for them (maybe around 120 euro per double-room per night or something like that.) If you check out the website you can take a look at the location and the rooms also.

There are plenty of hotels in Venice, a very expensive one is Danieli, next to St. Mark's Square, but I guess they charge over 400 euro per room per night.

  2. You can try hotel search in http://www.AmericaCheapHotels.com where you can read hotel reviews and comments, see photos and its physical locations through maps ...

Best thing is you can compare the USA/worldwide hotel prices in any city in any country in your local currency.

You can even able to filter out hotel by its features such as Star hotels,Business Center, Room Service, High-speed Internet, Fitness Room, Restaurant Parking, Swimming pool, Pets Allowed, Airport shuttle, Handicap Accessible, Concierge.

Access lots of USA and worldwide travel information.

  3. Hotel Bellini is a great hotel! Its very close to the train station as well as in walking distance from all the main attractions including St. Peter's square. Outside the hotel is access to water taxis as well as plenty of shops and restaurants. I also remember not too far down the sidewalk that there was free nightly entertainment. I'm not too sure about the price but overall it was a very clean, beautiful hotel in a great location.

  4. My husband and I stayed at the Baglioni hotel in April...

It is literally 20 steps away from St Mark's square on one side and 30 steps away from a main vaporetto (water bus) stop on the other. It also has a private water jetty where you can arrive outside the entrance by water taxi... or take a romantic gondola ride.

Having said that it is so close to the action, inside the hotel is a calm haven and you wouldn't know you were so near the crowds - it was wonderful!

Our room looked out over St Mark's Gardens and the Grand Canal to the right and was absolutely beautiful!

It was certainly expensive, but cheaper rooms are available without the canal view... and let's face it, Venice IS expensive!

  5. I stayed at the Palazzo Bembo in 2002. It's right by a vaporetto stop on the Grand Canal near the Rialto Bridge. The rates vary widely depending on the season and start at $100 euros. It was worth it.

  6. My husband and I stayed at the La Locandiera in Castello last Sept. It was very nice and I would stay there again. It included a continental breakfast and our window overlooked a canal. It's on the other side of the island very close to St. Marks square. The rooms were clean and had that nice Venice elegance. Make sure you get one of the larger rooms though as they have some tiny ones you may not be happy with (though they are cheaper). We took the train to Venice caught a vaporetto and it dropped us off about a block from the hotel. Check out their web site to see pictures of the rooms and for prices. info@lalocandiera-ve.com

  7. We went to Venice last year and stayed at the Relais Palazzo San Marco.  Considering its proximity to St. Mark's Square, it was a steal at 170 euros per day.  You can get information about it at http://smallandeleganthotels.com/Venice/...

If you don't mind staying outside of Venice, there is a 3-star hotel in the town of Spinea.  When we stayed there, it cost less than 100 euros per day.  There is a bus stop outside the hotel that will take you to the main station where you can get a vaporetto to Venice.

Also, at the Lido di Venezia, I can recommend Villa Albertina.  Their website is: http://www.villalbertina.com/en/index.ht...

ADDENDUM:  I remembered last night that I might not have put in the name of the hotel in Spinea.  It is the Hotel Raffaello.  You can get some information at: http://www.travel-library.com/hotels/eur...
