Hey, I'm going to visit Vancouver around August 19-22. I want to know if there's a reasonable/cheap hotel located within walking distance to Stanley park or Robson street for nearby malls/restaurants/etc. It's going to be my first time, and I'm already spending loads of money on a plane ticket and tickets to ride ferries/etc, so I want to spend the least amount of money possible.

  1. The Pacific Palisades is nice. It's right off of Robson and has a great location.

  2. It's going to be a challenge.  Since it's summer tourist season, hotel prices are the highest of the year, and many hotels will be booked up. Search 'cheap hotels vancouver' and see what you get. Vancouver's downtown is pretty small, so depending how far you like to walk, any hotel downtown could be considered walking distance from Stanley Park and Robson. You might think about trying hotels in North Vancouver. There are 5 of them just across the Lion's Gate bridge from Vancouver, bus service is good to downtown, the hotels are very close to the bus line. It would only take about 20 minutes to get to downtown Vancouver from North Van. Park Royal Shopping Centre, a very good mall, is about a 10 minute walk from those hotels and another 5-10 minutes will put you on Ambleside Beach, too.

  3. Stay at the Youth Hostel on Burnaby Street(near Thurlow and Davie Streets). All hotels in the downtown core charge over $100 per night in peak seasons, and fill up quickly, especially if there is a major event happening.

It is possible to walk from one side of downtown to the other in about 20 minutes.

Pacific Centre Mall is also conveniently located in the middle of downtown.

If you are staying downtown, you can walk to Stanley Park(it starts at the end of Robson Street). You can also pay $2.50 for a public transit ticket to the centre of Stanley Park, from where you can hop on to a free shuttle bus around the park.

  4. There are countless hotels in the dowtown area, but expect high season rates. What's your budget anyways? If its <$100, there's a place on Gilford and Haro.
